"I wanted to believe in myself again…” a client said to me
Hello Reader
One client told me something I’ve never forgotten after we concluded her 1:1 coaching bundle with me:
“I wanted to believe in myself again. Coaching gave me the confidence to do that.”
At first glance, she looked like everything a law firm would want: committed, capable, respected by clients.
But underneath, the pressure had chipped away at her self-belief. Every decision was second-guessed, every instruction double-checked.
It’s a pattern I know you’ll recognise. High performers - ones you and your partners rely on - slowly losing confidence under the weight of expectation. And when confidence slips, so does commerciality, collaboration, and often their promotion readiness (she went on to secure a promotion, with confidence that she could do a great job and stay healthy! High five to her!).
I felt this too in my own career. The longer I pushed without pause, the more I doubted myself. It’s why that client’s words cut through: they reminded me that confidence isn’t just “nice to have” - it’s what underpins performance. It's what keeps high performers 'safe'.
So here’s my reflection for you this week:
✨ Who in your firm might look fine on paper, but is quietly losing belief in themselves?
✨ And what might change if they had space to rebuild that confidence before the cracks widened?
With warmth,
Vikki x
