Seasons shift - how steady are you feeling?

Hello reader

There’s something about autumn that makes me feel differently.

The leaves are turning, the mornings are crisper, and the light slips away earlier each day. It’s the season for blankets, candlelight, hot mugs of tea and heart-to-heart conversations. A season for conserving energy and reconnecting with what really matters.

Yet in law firms, September often feels like a sprint - some of us running too fast, too hard (ahem, my hand is up here!). The push into Q4. The most committed people quietly carrying more and more. It can look like strength, but it’s often the fast track to burnout - for them, and sometimes for you too.

Change is everywhere this season.  We can see it around us as the trees change colour, drop their leaves.  Sometimes for us, change is gentle, other times it feels like a rollercoaster that dips when we least expect it. What matters isn’t ignoring those emotions, but noticing them - and having a way to steady ourselves.

That’s where my S.E.R.V.I.C.E Wellbeing Framework comes in. A simple way to check in and score yourself across the areas that truly matter:

  • Where are you thriving right now?  Notice why so you can continue it.

  • Where is your score dipping? Why? Be genuine (and gentle) with yourself in your answer.

  • Are your scores telling you that you need more challenge? Or more self-care?

Follow this link to score yourself against the S.E.R.V.I.C.E Wellbeing Framework.

And before you barrel into Q4, pause and ask: What do you - and your people - really need right now?

And if you’d like to explore this further and you've not already signed up, I’m running a free session this Monday (29 September) at 12.30pm for HR/People Directors on Boundaries, Performance and Confidence. It’s a chance to reflect, recharge, and take something practical back into your firm. [Click here to register].

Warm wishes
